4 Keys to Combating Chronic Fatigue

4 Keys to Combating Chronic Fatigue

Pyrroloquinoline (PQQ), D-Ribose, Calcium Pyruvate, and Resveratrol are bioactive compounds that improve mitochondrial biogenesis, which is necessary for increased energy. Furthermore, these bioactive compounds combat the effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and are promising solutions in restoring cellular energy. With this being said, the overall performance of cellular mitochondria is essential to cellular energy and the ability to ultimately combat chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)¹.

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a complex illness consisting of difficulty with memory and concentration, disturbed sleep patterns, brain fog, severe musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Although CFS is associated with many triggers, including infections, autoimmune illnesses, hormonal dysfunctions and other processes, it is highly linked to impaired energy metabolism². Because mitochondrial dysfunction is closely linked to the pathophysiology of chronic fatigue³ and is a key contributor to fatigue⁴, it’s absolutely essential to nourish the mitochondria.

Mitochondria are specific compartments in our cells that create ATP, the chemical energy of life and molecular fuel for the rest of the cell. If there are defects in the pathways of the mitochondria, then other systems of the body are consequently impacted⁵.

Given the epidemic of mitochondrial dysfunction and CFS, what are proven strategies to rectify cellular energy and the cascade of CFS? Rest assured, there are a handful of bioactive compounds that when used clinically, can aid in fatigue protocols. Pyrroloquinoline (PQQ), D-Ribose, Calcium Pyruvate, and Resveratrol are promising solutions.

Pyrroloquinoline (PQQ)

PQQ is an essential micronutrient that helps cells thrive, protects the brain, nerves, and heart. It also protects cells in the body from oxidative damage and supports the metabolism of energy and healthy aging. Clinical studies in humans have shown that PQQ reduces markers of inflammation and improves mood⁶⁺⁷.

Calcium Pyruvate

Calcium Pyruvate has been shown to enhance energy transport into the cell, which may delay the onset of fatigue⁸. It also enhances the body’s ability to metabolize carbohydrates for energy. In fact, having been consistently used in weight management protocols, calcium pyruvate has been shown to boost fat breakdown in the body⁹.

D-ribose

D-ribose increases cellular energy synthesis in heart and skeletal muscle¹º and has been shown to significantly improve clinical outcomes in CFS patients in the categories of sleep, mental clarity, pain intensity, and sustained energy levels¹¹. Furthermore, D-ribose significantly reduced clinical symptoms in patients suffering from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome¹².

Resveratrol

Resveratrol unlocks the specific gene called SIRT1, known to promote cellular longevity. As an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties, resveratrol effectively increases cellular energy metabolism. Because of its versatility, resveratrol improves the ATP regeneration, and ultimately influences crucial factors for the onset of muscle fatigue¹³.

When combined, the synergistic impact of these critical bioactive compounds boost mitochondrial production of ATP, the chemical energy of life involved in health and healing. They also promote cellular metabolism and prime mitochondrial biogenesis. Ultimately, the regeneration of cellular mitochondrial production of ATP is the sure fire way to combat the negative impacts of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
